Our facility in Geismar, Louisiana is a key contributor to Methanex’s global supply chain.
Currently, construction is underway for our third plant in Geismar, G3. G3 is scheduled to begin commercial operations by the end of 2023 and once commissioned, the G3 facility will be capable of producing 1.8 million tonnes of methanol per year. G3 is adjacent to our existing G1 and G2 plants and once completed, will have one of the lowest CO₂ emissions intensity profiles in the industry.
Methanex in Geismar has been an active supporter of the Capital Area United Way, Greater Baton Rouge Cancer Services, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Ascension Veteran’s Association through our employee payroll giving campaign, Methanex GIVES. We are also proud to be the first plant to become a Flagship Sponsor for our area St. Jude Run/Walk to End Childhood Cancer.
In addition, as a proud member of the Ascension Parish, we have donated time and money to many charitable organizations that make a positive impact on this local community.
