Fraudulent Recruitment Activity

Be advised there are fraudulent e-mail phishing activities that target members of the public falsely using Methanex’s name and logo in employment scams. Fraudsters claim to represent Methanex and send fake job opportunities or offers of employment in an attempt to obtain personal information and/or solicit upfront payments from candidates for items such as: work permits, visa applications and relocation. Please note that Methanex will never request money or payments during our recruitment process. All candidates are required to complete a formal recruitment process (including interviews) prior to being extended an offer for employment.

Common indicators of fraudulent activity and communications:

  • Employment opportunities and job offers that are unsolicited
  • Communications requesting personal data or banking information
  • Communications with misspellings and grammatical errors
  • Communications from an invalid Methanex email addresses such as: recruitment.m, recruitmentmethanex, and other web based email services such as @yahoo; @gmail, etc.. Legitimate communications from Methanex will only come from a email address.

What should you do?

You should never provide your personal information or send money for recruitment offers. If you are a victim of any fraudulent activity, we encourage you to report the incident to your local law enforcement or anti-fraud agency.
