Position Summary

Provide effective leadership and expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable Pressure Equipment, Pipeline and HSNO statutory requirements in order to enable optimal operational efficiency and reliability.

Develop, monitor and maintain mechanical integrity strategies and plans to assure static equipment integrity.

Provide subject matter expertise for Inspection regulatory and compliance matters, including recommendations regarding any necessary plant shut downs.

Position Responsibilities

  • Fully participate as a member of the Maintenance Management Team
  • Directly supervise, assign work and mentor the compliance and integrity team so that equipment is maintained in safe, reliable and environmentally sound condition in accordance with Methanex Standards and Regulatory Requirements
  • Coach, performance manage and build long term development plans for the compliance & integrity team so that capability is enhanced, expertise and depth of talent is preserved in order to maximise each individuals contribution to the long term achievement of organisational and department goals
  • Develop, monitor and maintain mechanical integrity strategies to assure static equipment integrity
  • Provide expert mechanical engineering support, inspection advice and assessments to the organisation
  • Advise and provide direction regarding static equipment design and repair
  • Liaise with other departments to coordinate major shutdowns and turnaround activities supporting development of turnaround equipment work scope, inspection plans and risk reviews
  • Work with and support maintenance management team during emergency breakdowns to ensure these events are effectively managed with the appropriate level of planning and controls in place
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Pressure Equipment, Pipeline and HSNO statutory requirements
  • Develop and implement Inspection management strategies
  • Provide subject matter expertise for Inspection regulatory and compliance matters, including recommendations around necessary plant shut downs
  • Liaise with, and where necessary lobby, statutory authorities to ensure Methanex’s best interests are represented
  • Participate in developing capital and operating budgets for compliance and integrity and ensure that the budget is managed efficiently within the correct financial controls
  • Assist the Maintenance manager in developing the annual maintenance plan to ensure the business unit is aligned with the overall Methanex business strategy
  • Attend both internal and external meetings/events so as to promote and champion the compliance and integrity team’s goals and objectives
  • Contribute Static Equipment and Inspection expertise and advice to Methanex sites globally

Position Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years relevant experience
  • Pressure Equipment Inspector Endorsements A&B
  • Knowledge of regulatory and audit requirements regarding inspection systems
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with internal and external parties
  • Ability to provide technical leadership/management of a team
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes and best practice
  • Ability to manage and control budgets
  • Ability to engage in long-term planning discussions and strategic thought
  • Ability to lead and participate in small and focused technical teams
  • Must have extensive, broad maintenance process experience
  • Must have high level decision making ability and be willing to make the hard calls when necessary
